Paper Puppet Theatre – Storybook Puppetry of Folktales @ The Foundry - Technology Development Center
Oct 22 @ 2:30 pm – 3:30 pm

“PAPPENSPIEL”    Paper Puppet Theater

Playing: “Hans in Luck” and “The Fox and The Geese” –
Storytelling and Storybook Puppetry of Folktales by the Brothers Grimm.

A bicycle traveling, trunk-sized, one man paper marionette show for intimate audiences of all ages.

Idea, creation and original puppetry by artist and craftsman “Max” Eberhard Eichner.

The inspiration to “Pappenspiel” came through the rich culture of storytelling and puppeteering in Germany, where “Max” was born and raised.
This is alive imagination and thoughtful entertainment through moral storytelling and a very original use of the 200 year old art form of the paper figure theater.

Following the performance, Eberhard will show how the puppets and theatre were made.

Day of the Dead Style Paper Mache Skull Workshop @ The Foundry - Technology Development Center
Oct 28 @ 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Day of the Dead Style Skull Workshop

The annual Mexican celebration of  Dia de los Muertos also known as The “Day of the Dead” is on November 1st and 2nd. It is a festive holiday for families to pay tribute to those who have passed on. During this time, people decorate their home alters and journey to their family cemeteries to decorate and remember in a festive, fun, colorful way with skulls, food, photographs and flowers. It is believed that the departed return home to enjoy the beauty of these offerings.

Learn about the vibrant cultural tradition of this practice in the workshop.  The colorfully painted skull can be a commemoration of a person you are honoring or just a beautiful decoration. Tools include: paint (with paint pens), glitter and gems to bling up a paper mache skull.
